June 28th, 2024 @ Xibaiyanggou Scenic Area Part 2
After finishing lunch, I headed back to Xibaiyanggou Scenic Area, this time walking deeper into the forests and finding more unique species.
Walking along the forest path, I added more species to my life list, such as the Northern Wheatear, Eurasian Nuthatch, and the Gray Wagtail.

I wandered deeper into the forest, and suddenly, a small sound of hitting the wood caught my attention. I scanned the tree branch and trunk in the direction of the sound and saw a pair (one male, one female) of Eurasian Three-toed Woodpeckers.
I picked up my camera and pressed the shutter button like crazy. I slowly and softly walked closer to the woodpeckers. They seemed not to notice me and continued to peck wood, their heads hitting the trunk and back, hitting and back, with their little three-clawed foot clinging tightly to the trunk. After about half an hour, the woodpeckers flew deeper into the forest, and I headed back.
